This hand I was pretty annoyed about. Villain was over aggro donk obviously, and was ridiculously aggro after this suckout:-

Not much other news, although I did have a chuckle when catching up with the soccer news the other day. Whilst Spurs were busy tying up their young stars Tom Huddlestone and Aaron Lennon to long term contracts, our 'rivals' West Ham were busy buying 'relegation specialist' Nigel Quashie for £1.75m.

Some Questions about this -

Why does every manager of the bottom 5 Premiership teams try to buy Nigel Quashie every transfer window?
Does Quashie ever get pissed off getting relegated every season?
Who has been relegated more, Quashie or MK Dons?

  • Ouch. Tough hands there. Especially the 2nd one where you had Aces.

What did you put villain on after his PF Min-raise, then his lead out on the flop of half the pot? If he only PF raises 6% of the time, can't you narrow his range to AA-QQ pretty much? And you have the other two aces, so either KK or QQ then. It is a tough one, because for you to test him to see if he has KK, you basically commit yourself to the pot.

Also, thanks for linking me up! Half of my hits are coming from here!

    Thanks

  • Hey man,

I don't really see any other way of playing the AA hand.

I 4-bet preflop so I figured him to have QQ/KK/AK most of the time, but he was a huge donk so you can never know.

He lead flop - we'll I think that mostly rules out AK but people do think overs and gutshot are good on this board so who knows?

I think he'd do this with QQ/KK so I can't get any reads from that.

I'm not going to call on this flop with AA so I had to raise and call the all-in.

I don't think many people will fold AA for one buyin after 4-betting preflop. I can't remember the last time I did it and I can't remember folding AA many times for 100BB after 3-betting preflop either!

    Cheers,

    Dan

  • Hey Dan,

We played some 50NL a couple of weeks ago, but I don't know if you remember. I had mentioned that I was thinking about some lessons, which I am still contemplating, but am going to hold off on for a while. That first hand is what dreams are made of. 4-buyin pots are fun... when you win. I also don't really see playing the AA hand any differently with such a donk. I think a good deal of the time he's going to be making that play with a very beatable hand, so a call with AA seems fine to me. Take care, hope to see you at the tables again soon! BTW, I started up a blog and linked you up.

  • Maybe they all buy him in the hope he might score a fantastic goal like he did for QPR 100 years ago.

  • Lol steve,

Also why do people always want to buy Djimi Traore? He wouldn't get into my sunday league team, he is so, so bad.

Oh yeah, and how does Jon Stead always command £1m+ transfer fees? He makes Emile Heskey look prolific! 2 goals in 39 games in the Championship and he gets bought by Neil Warnock who immediately calls him 'The signing of the transfer window'. Utter rubbish, another journeyman striker at Sheffield United.
